GLOSSARY OF VOLCANIC TERMS
The Volcanic Explosivity Index, which is a measure of the size of an eruption based on its magnitude, intensity and destructive power. The VEI is measured on an eight-point scale, where "8" is the most destructive and powerful eruption (Cioni et al., 2000. p. 477).
